STATE FAREWELL TO THE GOVERNOR GENERAL
The public is invited to come to the official farewell ceremony for the outgoing Governor-General, Sir Jerry Mateparae GNZM QSO KStJ. He will be farewelled at Parliament in a colourful spectacle taking place on Parliament’s forecourt. The ceremony will include the Tri-Service Royal Guard of Honour and Colour Parties, the band of the Royal New Zealand Air Force, a Maori ceremonial welcome with warrior challenge and kapa haka, Royal salute and a 21-gun salute from Point Jerningham. This is one of New Zealand’s important constitutional events and is a wonderful opportunity to show appreciation for Sir Jerry’s five years as Governor-General.
